Celebrating Success

We believe in recognising each student’s personal best and regularly recognise students’ achievements, including sporting endeavours, academic excellence, musical talents or commitment to improvement. We celebrate and reward achievement, success and contributions to the college community in a range of ways and at a variety of events throughout the college year.

  • Merit System

In KS3 we offer a merit reward system to encourage students to achieve their potential. Students receive merits in recognition of good work in or outside of the classroom. They can achieve certificates on a rising scale, starting with the bronze award, and these lead to reward trips such as ten-pin bowling or a visit to the cinema.

  • Celebration Assemblies

We believe in celebrating students’ success at regular opportunities throughout the year. Students can achieve certificates and rewards for a range of activities including excellent attendance, great work in subject areas or sporting achievements.

  • Assessment for Learning

Students’ work is regularly assessed using feedback that identifies strengths and successes as well as ways of improving further. The principles behind this approach recognise the need for encouragement as well as helping students to move forward constructively.

  • Celebration of Success Evening

This year as we recognised the achievements of our school community we were joined by Janet Gray, world champion water skier. Janet gave an inspirational address highlighting the importance of belief in one’s own ability to succeed even when confronted with challenged and difficulties.
